easy diy christmas wreath

Y’ALL. I have made probably the easiest DIY Christmas wreath known to man. If you know me, you know that I need simple DIY projects. And let me tell you, this one is what I call “Olivia proof” meaning if I can do it, I KNOW you can too!

Now, what I love the most about this easy DIY Christmas wreath is that not only is it super cost-effective, but you can also use all of your materials from this project and add them to garland around your home for a custom, tailored look to your Christmas home decor! Mind blown.

This will create a unison look without the price tag. And with inflation prices through the roof this year, I’m absolutely all for inexpensive decor hacks. I live for it! So let’s get into it.

Materials

The materials used are very inexpensive items that you may already have! Yes, let me explain. So the decor on this wreath is actually leftover ornaments and ribbon from my tree. This helps it tie into your tree decor effortlessly because it literally has the same items on it.

  • Hot Glue Gun
  • A can of spray paint ( your choice of color)
  • Ornaments (leftover from your tree)
  • Ribbon ( left over from your tree
  • Any plain cheap wreath ( I bought mine after the holidays for extra savings. It was like 90 cents.)

Step 1: Gather All of Your Materials and Goodies

Step 2: Spray Paint Any Wreath Tid Bits

If you have a wreath like this, go ahead and spray paint any accessorizing berries and pinecones if your color theme is different.

For instance, my Christmas tree has a lot of gold in it, no reds, so I spray-painted the berries and some pinecones gold. I left some pinecones brown for a more dynamic look with depth and rustic appeal.

Step 3: Plan Ornament and Ribbon Placement

Before I make any permanent changes, I like to place my ornaments and ribbon to get an idea on how I want them spaced and placed. My ribbon placement is centered while the ornaments are placed at the side on the ribbon.

Step 4: Hot Glue Ribbon

Ribbon can be a hassle to manage more so than an ornament so I begin with it first. I cut my ribbon into 4 sections to give it that interwoven look.

Then I hot glue the ends tucked behind an ornament or garland as pictured above.

Step 5: Hot Glue Ornaments

Next up, I hot glue my ornaments or whatever else you like to decorate your wreath with to the garland. I make sure to glue them on each side of the ribbon to fill in that space well and evenly.

**Tip: Add a festive or monogram sign to the center of your wreath for added interest.**

Step 6: Hand That Sucker Up!

Tada! Thats it! Now go hang your new gorgeous wreath and admire your new creation!

Yes, that’s literally all there is to it! I hope this easy DIY Christmas Wreath tutorial helped inspire you to decorate your home for the season. As always, have fun with it, get creative, add your own touch, your own theme, and make it yours! That’s what’s so great about DIY decor. It doesn’t have to be overly complicated, time-consuming, or intimidating.

This wreath has held up for 3 years now and going strong. And like I said you can implement this same decor hack on garland around your home to create a unison, custom look without the hefty price tag! Happy decorating!
